brooklyn dreams.

  • Where you always confident on camera ?

  • Believe it or not,  as a teenager navigating my way through Brooklyn New York, I was extremely shy. I was flat-chested, stick thin, with acne. Although I would appreciate my bony long arms and legs later, at the time, it made me insecure.  I longed to be voluptuous,  like my mother,  a bonified Marilyn Monroe brown bombshell with an hourglass figure. Me? I looked like Olive Oyl.

  •  I wasn't confident about anything.

  •  I was so shy, I used to help other students try out for the musicals, plays, and even run for office. Then, I  stood back and watched them get the roles, and win the awards, and the accolades I always wanted. It took me years to gain the confidence to be front stage and center. So I did the next best thing. Helped other people get there.  This is when  I got my first taste of mentoring and developing talent. I truly enjoyed seeing people get results with my insight. Until I realized... I was making their dreams more important than mine.

  • How did you over come your shyness to be on camera ?

  • Over time it became too painful to watch.  Sitting on the sidelines and watching confident and sometimes less gifted people go to great heights of exposure and accolades was humbling but also frustrating. I felt like I was out in the cold, watching my life through a store window with my nose pressed against it looking at my hot breath,  fogging up my dream.   I felt suffocated by my own thoughts of inadequacy and knew I had to get out of the small-time feel of Brooklyn and into money-making Manhattan where there were better mentors,  schools, and jobs.   Sometimes you must get into a new environment to feel a new energy supporting your dreams.

  • The F-Train was a 45 minute ride to my new apt in Hells Kitchen, a  fashion-forward concrete jungle filled with a graffiti street culture, yellow cabs , night clubs and newsstands.   I secured a job as a bartender took a billion acting classes and I practiced reading aloud. Reading aloud and recording myself improved my on-camera,  mind mouth and body connection and later became one of my signature programs for on-camera verbal mastery.

  • The practice and ownership of my on-camera cold reading skills gave me the confidence to audition a lot, and eventually, I dialed it in so well,  I started to book jobs like crazy .  So the long short answer is ...I practiced... ALOT.

the art of the interview.

  • How did you create your On Camera Interview Program?

  •  I was working both as a freelance Weekend Entertainment Host for Extra and Access Hollywood and had an active, steady career as a working actress. I was enjoying the glow of my recent guest star acting work on hit shows such as Nip Tuck and Burn Notice, as well as a Sag nomination for best- ensemble cast for Six Feet Under.

  • Then all of a sudden work started to slow down, my mother passed away so I was mourning and for the first time in 20 years, I honestly didn’t know what to do with myself. My manager suggested I coach people ‘on camera technique’ in between the bookings so I could stay proactive.

  • I rented a studio where all the cold reading coaches worked in Los Angeles, put together a red carpet program called “ The Art of the Interview “, and sold out my first class! I fell in love with the process of coaching talents to a higher level of communication. I was getting amazing results and pretty soon I created a cut-and-dry formula for speaking on camera with ownership and fluidity.

  •    Now my life had come full circle . I was back to mentoring talents and teaching them how to acquire the skills quickly to create a fullfilling on camera life.

mind mouth and body.

  • What is your process and  on-camera techniques?

  • I use a MIND MOUTH & BODY approach.

  •  I call it "WHOLE BODY SPEAKING."

  • When the life force runs through your body with an important message, with practice, your mind mouth, and body connect. That's whole-body speaking.

  • Standing in front of a camera can make you feel lost.

  • When you understand the tenets of on-camera storytelling, navigating your brain through even lengthy messages becomes as simple as singing Happy Birthday.

  • Most people don't lack confidence they lack technique.

  • A solid technique can anchor you into the present moment, giving you enough footing to take the helm.

  • Your heartfelt message is your guide.

  • My signature interview technique begins with building a framework for your On Camera Conversation. The framework provides a container for the content to live in and fuels great broadcast moments. Contrary to popular belief an interview is not just a conversation.

  • An interview is a well-crafted story. It's a story you tell through someone else. You carve and navigate the story you want to tell. Great interviews are like a well-choreographed dance, with twists and turns, highs and lows, leaps and bounds. A great interview is great storytelling.
